Welcome from the Headteacher

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Mexborough Academy.  I am extremely proud to lead this thriving school at the heart of the community.  I am constantly impressed by the energy and enthusiasm of the pupils here and the warm relationships they have with the teaching staff.  I hope this website gives you a flavour of what the academy is all about but if you would like to know more, or want to visit, please get in touch and we would be delighted to help you further.

Our aim here is to help each and every one of our students develop into mature and confident young people who are fully prepared for life beyond the Academy. We are extremely aspirational for our students both academically and in relation to personal development – each student is treated as an individual and we don’t place limits on what we think they can achieve.  All students are unique and have a valuable contribution to make towards our Academy.

We insist on the highest standards of behaviour and believe in an ethos of respect, courtesy, tolerance and hard work.  We foster a ‘can do’ attitude where students are encouraged to move out of their comfort zone, participate in new experiences and not to fear failure.  This, coupled with our state of the art facilities in a recently built and well equipped building, creates an environment where students flourish.

I am ambitious about the future. With the support of Wakefield City Academies Trust we are on an exciting journey to create a truly exceptional academy for the young people of Mexborough.
